Preparation:

Children up to 3 years of age:

no special preparation is required for the examination.

Children over 3 years of age and adults:

the day before the examination:
- An easily digestible diet is recommended, excluding foods that cause flatulence.
- It is recommended to take a preparation containing simethicone (e.g. Espumisan), according to the leaflet of the selected manufacturer, preferably after main meals.

on the day of the examination:
- performed before noon, the patient should remain on an empty stomach, including smoking, chewing gum, eating sweets and other snacks, and drinking coffee, however, if the examination is planned in the afternoon, a 5-6-hour break should be observed after the last non-flatulent meal;
(the exception are patients with diabetes: they should take insulin or antidiabetic drugs and eat a meal at the usual time, and the examination date should be set for approximately 2 hours after the last meal), - it is recommended to take a preparation containing simethicone (e.g. Espumisan) in the morning, according to the leaflet of the selected manufacturer,
- you should take care of your bowel movements,
- 1-2 hours before the examination, you should drink approximately 0.5 liters of non-carbonated fluid (water) and do not empty your bladder.
